Visiting PhD Student in the IMS

Funda Hay, a PhD researcher and Research Assistant at the Department of English Language and Literature at Ankara University, Turkey, is visiting the IMS for the next 12 months.

Funda's thesis, titled, 'Transculturalism in Middle English Romances: Anonymous's The Quest for the Holy Grail, The Song of Roland, and Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde', analyses these works in the light of transcultural patterns. Within this context, medieval culture, social and historical background, and factors paving the way for cultural interactions will be examined.

While at the IMS, Funda will study these Middle English romances and will determine how they reflect the cultural, historical, and religious changes of medieval society, thereby demonstrating transcultural studies can be applicable to the literary works of the Middle Ages.
