New volume of essays in honour of Professor Graham Loud

Professor Emeritus of Medieval History Graham Loud has been honoured with the publication of a new volume of essays.

Marking Professor Loud’s major lifetime contribution to the history of Norman Sicily, Rethinking Norman Italy: Studies in Honour of Graham A. Loud contains essays on topics including urban history, historiography, religion, and the Crusades, another of Professor Loud’s key teaching and research interests. He says: 'I am deeply touched that my colleagues, friends and former students have produced such a volume. It's one of the greatest honours that any academic can receive, and it is a very personal one, marking their esteem and recognition of one's contribution to the subject. I am very much looking forward to reading it, and to learning a great deal from it'.

Professor Loud’s research in the field of medieval Italian history continues unabated with a recent edition of selected charters of the abbey of Cava, Pergamene scelte della badia di Cava 1097-1200 (Centro europeo di studi normanni, Ariano, Collana "Medievalia" 10, 2021), and the forthcoming publication of a monograph, The Social World of the Abbey of Cava, c. 1020–1300, to be published by Boydell in November 2021.
