Annual celebration of book publishing

The School of History was proud to host the annual ‘book celebration’ showcase on Wednesday 27th June.

The School of History was proud to host its annual ‘book celebration’ showcase on Wednesday 27th June. The event was an opportunity for members of the School, both staff and students, to come together and celebrate successful the range of books by School of History academics which have been published within the last year.  Each author gave a short talk about the process of creating their books and the inspiration behind them. 

Professor Simon Ball, Director of Research, said "'Oscar Wilde said 'The one duty we owe to History is to re-write it'. Today we celebrated six monographs that triumphantly carried out that charge. We have had a year of great success in publishing including Stephen Alford's London's Triumph which has been nominated for the prestigious Los Angeles Times Book Award."

This was a great celebration event, enjoyed by all and was attended by both staff and students. The successful books are an example of the School of History's active contribution to research.
