Project Launch: Wish You Were Here

An afternoon of stories, creativity, and conversation.

Join us for the launch of Wish You Were Here, an arts and oral-history project carried out by a community-research team based at the Skippko community-arts organisation based in Leeds and Peter Anderson from the School of History.

The project explored the memories, meanings, and experiences of UK tourists who have travelled to Spain since the 1960s. Hosted in the Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery, the event brings together project participants, artists, researchers, and the wider public to reflect on how journeys shape our lives and identities.

Through creative workshops, conversations, and personal storytelling, participants have shared holiday memories, significant journeys, and reflections on places that matter to them. The event will feature presentations of the project's holiday scrapbook and digital slideshow, participant talks, and a panel discussion exploring issues around combining community arts with oral history.

We look forward to welcoming you to an afternoon of stories, creativity, and conversation.
