Dr Katie Carpenter presents an interactive seminar entitled 'The Searchlight: A Public Engagement Project on Girls in the History of Science'
In 1912, a group of teenage girls studying at the North London Collegiate School produced three volumes of a manuscript magazine entitled 'The Searchlight', celebrating their love of science. Many of these girls grew up to be scientists and doctors.
These magazines have inspired a public engagement project run by Dr Katie Carpenter in which school children will be sent 'maker kits' with mini experiments inspired by these women. Join us to hear about the project and try out the experiments!
This session is hosted by the Women, Gender and Sexuality research group in the School of History.
