PAST Skills & Methodology Workshop: Medieval & Early Modern

The National Archives offers a course through the Postgraduate Archival Skills Training (PAST) programme designed to develop the skills and knowledge of students researching the period c.1086-1782.

This two-day course, focussing on the medieval and early modern periods, will begin by developing student expertise in finding records in the National Archives and elsewhere. The second day will be devoted to helping students read and interpret historic documents by developing skills with palaeography and diplomatic.

Where appropriate, students will be able to choose between medieval and early modern sessions. At the end of the course, students will have increased confidence in their ability to find and access previously challenging medieval and early modern documents and to read the contents of these documents. The event is aimed at current taught postgraduate and PhD students.

More information about the programme, including full programme details for both days, and registration is available here.
