Workshop: Open Wide: Access and Engagement with Dental History Collections

A workshop with Rachel Bairsto, Head of Museum Services at the British Dental Association

What can historical dental tools, models, and teaching aids tell us about the changing story of oral health?

In this interactive workshop, Rachel Bairsto (Head of Museum Services at the British Dental Association) will introduce participants to some of the fascinating objects held in the BDA’s nationally significant museum collection. Together, we’ll explore how dental collections can be used in exhibitions, outreach events, and learning activities, as well as thinking about some of the ethical, interpretive, and conservation challenges unique to dental material culture.

There’ll be plenty of opportunity for discussion, and even a chance to get hands-on with some historical dental artefacts!
