For researchers in the humanities working with data or want to visualise their research through distant reading approaches. Using apps in data visualisations in networks (Gephi) and maps (Carto).
Dr Giovanni Pietro Vitali, Associate Professor in Digital Humanities (Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines - Université Paris-Saclay)
The aim of this workshop is to reflect on the structuring and use of data in research methods peculiar to history and literature, but not limited to these disciplines.
Divided in two sessions, the workshop will address the composition of datasets and the harmonisation of data for visualisation. In the first session, we will deal with analysis through network visualisation and in the second session we will practise digital cartography.
This workshop is designed for researchers in the humanities who work with data or who want to be able to visualise their research through distant reading approaches. On the technical side, we will mainly use applications dedicated to data visualisations in networks (Gephi) and maps (Carto).
