In a new video, Writing Back pen pals catch up in person and share their experiences of participating in the nationally acclaimed letter-writing project.
The video features pen pals from the project meeting up at two celebratory lunch events in Easter 2018. These took place at the University of Leeds, and were attended by over ninety participants.
These meet-ups offer School of English undergraduate students and University-wide international postgraduate students the chance to meet the older Yorkshire resident to whom they have been writing in person. In the new video, we hear from several pairs of pen pals about their experiences of being involved in the project.
The events received positive press coverage in The Yorkshire Post (3rd May – Print) and Yorkshire Evening Post and on BBC Radio Leeds (3rd May – Broadcast), BBC Radio Leeds Online (clip on Facebook – 4th May), BBC Local Radio(3rd May – Broadcast) and Made in Leeds TV (clip on Facebook - 26th April). The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Sir Alan Langlands, enjoyed attending one of the lunch events, along with Dr Fiona Becket, Head of the School of English.
You can watch the new video on our Media page and on YouTube.
