Profile

I have the dual role of designer and researcher in Visual Communication. My areas of expertise include graphic design, typography, and book design.

My current practice and research centre around the influence of visible typographic strategies in print fiction on the reading experience. I am adopting a combination of practice, theoretical frameworks and participatory studies to conduct my research. 

Research interests

1.    The materiality of printed media, and the role of non-linguistic/visual elements in printed fiction.

2.    Employ social semiotic theories in fiction to study how typographic enhancement techniques contribute to meaning-making.

3.    Readers’ reading strategies and experience in typography-enhanced fiction.

4.    The relationship between readers, designers, and authors in typography-enhanced fiction.

5.    Integrating practice and theoretical frameworks as an approach to conducting academic research that generates new knowledge.
