University of Leeds Becomes Founding Member of WITTA
In the First Congress of the World Interpreter and Translator Training Association (WITTA), Leeds becomes a founding member.
The congress was held on 18 November 2016 at Guangzhou China, and the University of Leeds was formally accepted as a founding member of WITTA, which is an alliance of 40 interpreter and translator training institutions now from Asia, USA, Russia, the UK and other European countries. WITTA aims to promote inter-institutional and international academic exchanges and collaboration in interpreter and translator training and relevant research among its members.
Dr Binhua Wang, programme manager of MA Conference Interpreting and Translation Studies in the Centre for Translation Studies at University of Leeds, was elected as vice chair of the Academic Committee of WITTA in its first congress. He also made a presentation about the Leeds MA interpreting and translation programmes in the International Symposium of WITTA on Translation in Education and Education in Translation that was held from 19-20 November 2016.
