Languages for All student's success in Chinese Proficiency Competition

Mandarin Chinese student, Shreya Patel, achieved 3rd place in the competition held in London, with help from tutor, Yuzhe Darling.

The 16th "China Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign University Students was held in London on 22 April. Four University of Leeds students successfully won the competition:

2nd prize
Gabriel Mayoral-Galindo (level 3) 
Mark McPhillips (level 2) 

3rd prize
Charlie Bridges (level 2) 
Shreya Patel (Languages for All)

Shreya's decision to take the Languages for All Mandarin module as her discovery module this year has meant she was able to not only participate in the competition, but achieve a fantastic outcome with fellow University of Leeds students.  This is the first time that Languages for All have had a representative at the competition.

Yuzhe Darling, tutor of the Languages for All Mandarin module, also assisted with the coaching and preparation of the contestants alongside Dr Ning Yi from East Asian Studies (EAST), Ms Meng Jianan, Ms Cao Xinyan, Ms Zhou Bei, Ms Wang Chuyi and Ms Wang Jin from the Business Confucius Institute (BCIUL).

The collaboration amongst EAST, Language for All, Business School and BCIUL and the hard work from both the students and tutors is a wonderful achievement and testament to hard work and partnership.

The "China Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition is a way for international students to learn about Chinese culture, language and tradition.
