Official Opening of School of Design Clothworkers South Building
Official Opening of Clothworkers' South Building - 8th May
A £4.4m investment has transformed the School creating new weaving, knitting, digital printing, coloration and colour communication facilities.
Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) a new 3D Weaving Innovation Centre places the School at the forefront of technical and creative weaving.
Professor Chris Carr, Head of School of Design and Chair of Textile Technology commented:
“Our new facilities will foster opportunities for design and technology to work synergistically together.
Along with the 2014 refurbishment of Clothworkers Central building, where we established a materials testing laboratory and refreshed the art, design and fashion facilities, we are invigorating the dialogue between design and technology.”
Alumnus Dominic Dormeuil, Chairman of French textile and design Company Dormeuil will officially open Clothworkers South at 11.30am on 8 May.
Alumni, designers and colleagues from industry attending the event will be given a tour the building and the chance to see student work from across or our Art & Design, Fashion, Graphic Design and Textiles programmes.
