Professor Emma Cayley elected as new Chair of the University Council of Modern Languages
Professor Emma Cayley, Head of the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies, has been elected to the national appointment of Chair of the University Council of Modern Languages, UCML.
The University Council of Modern Languages is the unifying voice for Modern Languages in the United Kingdom. Representing the views and opinions of scholars and professionals in modern languages and related disciplines to Government, the funding councils, and other bodies at national level, they also collect and disseminate information about the state of study, research and teaching of modern languages and cognate disciplines in the UK.
In her nomination statement Emma expressed how as Chair she aims to deepen UCML’s sense of community, increase recognition of different situations of the devolved nations and strengthen links with external partners.
Currently UCML’s Vice Chair for External Engagement and Communication, Emma will take up her new role at the end of July and fulfil it for the next three years.
