New Head of School
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Jonathan Pitches as the new Head of the School of Performance and Cultural Industries.
Jonathan is a leading Professor of Theatre and Performance with more than 25 years experience in higher education. He has 3 monographs and several edited books, the latest on mountains and performance, he is also founding co-editor of the Routledge quarterly, Theatre, Dance and Performance Training, now in its tenth year. He is strongly committed to pedagogic innovation, and is dedicated to digital education and online learning, being one of the first people in the University to launch a course on the FutureLearn platform.
Away from work, Jonathan is a keen hill walker, and completed the Wainwright challenge of 214 summits in the Lake District along with his family in 2018.
Professor Pitches said: “I’m truly delighted to be taking up this post at this moment in time. The School of Performance and Cultural Industries has gone from strength to strength in the last five years, and I am very excited to be leading my colleagues forward to even brighter and better things in the future. I look forward to working with the new Executive Dean and Vice Chancellor to meet the global challenges we face, finding solutions through the excellent education and research produced by the School.”
Professor Pitches will take up the post as Head of School on 1 August 2020.
