Georgia Hennessy Jackson presents Family Memoir

Georgia, a final year BA English student, explores the story of her Grandad's remarkable life, including excerpts from his letters and writing, in an episode on Leeds Student Radio.

Inspired by one of her modules, final-year BA English student and Leeds University journalist Georgia Hennessy Jackson dedicates one of her programmes at Leeds Student Radio to family memoir:   surprisingly perhaps, one of the most exciting and popular genres of our time.  As well as discovering her own grandfather's experiences as a naval submariner during the Cold War -- and revealing a hitherto covered-up secret -- Georgia interviews her module tutor Dr Jay Prosser about his long-time research in memoir, the literary genre's relation to our climate of 'oversharing,' and about Jay's own forthcoming family memoir.
