German at Leeds alumnus and professional translator Peter Workman talks about careers in translation.
Peter Workman currently works for the EU and lives and works in Brussels. In the talk he will cover the following aspects:
- his academic studies and how he got into translating
- his work as a translator for the UK Civil Service, the European Parliament and the European Commission
- the skills needed for translation work
- recruitment procedures operated by EU institutions and other international bodies
- working as a freelance translator
Peter will share his personal views and experiences that do not necessarily reflect those of the institutions he has worked for.
