The Conference of the Parties - COP30 - will take place in Belém, Brazil, 10 - 21 November 2025. As a leading institution committed to responding to the climate crisis, the University of Leeds has an active role to play in global climate discussions, providing insights and supporting diverse voices in the climate conversation.
The annual United Nations climate negotiations will see people from across the world gather virtually and in person to discuss and agree action on climate change. Heads of state and government from across the world will be joined by thousands of delegates to shape the pathway towards reaching the targets set out in the Paris Agreement of 2015.
Among those delegates will be researchers and students from the University of Leeds. As an official observer of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the University of Leeds is sending a small delegation to attend COP30 in person and virtually.
Members of the delegation will be involved in hosting and speaking at events as well as conducting research. They will also contribute to the accountability of the process and use the opportunity to meet with a wide range of key stakeholders.
