Study UK Alumni Awards recognises Arts and Humanities graduates

A number of alumni from the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures have been recognised for their contributions to their fields.

The British Council Study UK Alumni Awards 2022 have just announced their nominees, five of whom are Leeds alumni from the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures, continuing a trend of growing success for Leeds graduates in receipt of prestigious awards.

The awards celebrate outstanding alumni around the world who are making contributions in the fields of science and sustainability; culture and creativity; social action; and business and innovation. National winners are selected in each category, and the top shortlisted candidates may also be considered for global awards. 

Culture and Creativity Award

  • Dana Al-abduljabbar (Graphic and Communication Design, 2016), Qatar - Artist, Photographer, Short Film Producer and Graphic Designer, recognised for her work depicting Qatari heritage and culture.
  • Aiman Alsaeedi (PhD Journalism Studies, 2021), Saudi Arabia – Lecturer at Umm Al-Qura University recognised for his work to establish the first innovation media lab in Saudi Arabia.
  • Roula Maria Dib Nassif (PhD English, 2018), United Arab Emirates – Assistant Professor and Creative Writer at The American University in Dubai, recognised for her work to engage local and international creatives through writing.
  • Raja Al Ghamdi (PhD Modern Languages, 2016), Saudi Arabia – Assistant Professor and the Chairperson of the Department of English Language at Jubail University College.
