Kate Nash gives keynote address at the Regard Bleu ethnographic film festival

This film festival focuses on virtual reality and the nature of experience in an age of immersive media.

Dr Kate Nash’s presentation will build on her recently published work on the nature of immersive witness, and will consider the question of whose experience takes precedence in VR encounters with distant others.

The aim of this research is to understand how best to use VR ethically in the context of humanitarian communication.

Regard Bleu is organised jointly by the Ethnographic Museum, University of Zurich and the Swiss Anthropological Association.

Kate has also put together a special edition of the journal Studies in Documentary Film dedicated to factual uses of VR.
