Leeds achieves top ranking in prestigious report

The University of Leeds has been highly ranked in a reputational survey of PhD programmes across the English-speaking world.
Leeds placed joint 33rd worldwide and joint 6th in the UK in the Philosophical Gourmet Report 2024-25.
The report ranks graduate programmes based on faculty quality, using a survey of around 550 philosophers worldwide.
It aims to guide prospective students in choosing PhD programmes, with emphasis on the quality and diversity of faculties. .
Prof. Julian Dodd, Head of the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science, said: “This is a stunning result, reflecting both the quality of the research being conducted in philosophy/HPS at Leeds and the growing international reputations of our researchers. We’re delighted and look forward to seeing more PhD students join our uniquely dynamic and supportive research community.”
