'Agency, Abilities and Control’
Abstract
I propose a sketch of an account of the abilities required for moral agency. According to this account, moral agency requires, among other things, abilities whose exercise is under the agent’s control. I spell out the features of such abilities and I examine an objection based on so-called ‘Frankfurt-style cases’ that purports to show that moral responsibility for our actions and their consequences doesn’t require the exercise of such abilities.
