Profile
I specialised mainly in and work at the intersection between translation, gender and linguistic studies, with a vast interest in inclusive language in Spanish, Portuguese and English, translating for the queer community in South America, and queer literature. I have also worked on translating the Chilean drag slang into the slang from American English as an undergraduate project and colaborating for Jauja, a journal from Colectivo Letra Suelta (Chile).
My research is linked with Ártemís López’s investigation and theory about the visibilisation and study of inclusive language in our society. Alternatively, my thesis is focused on Spanish, Portuguese and English inclusive language from a translator perspective with the idea of giving distinguishability to the nonbinary community and opening the discussion to language institutions to accept these changes.
This project will help and question future and current translators about the practices of inclusive language in a society that is constantly evolving; besides that, it will help the nonbinary community to be present after their own language marginalised them. With this in mind, I am looking forward to contributing and doing more research about how this topic can also make languages open to everyone.
