Profile
I am a lecturer at Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman, a freelance translator and interpreter. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Interpreting Studies at the University of Leeds, a journey that began in 2023. I have two master’s degrees in International Relations and Translation Studies, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Translation. My career also includes experience as an English Editor at the Central Bank of Oman, Head of Translation and Interpretation at the Omani Parliament, and various other roles that have enabled me to apply and expand my expertise in translation and interpreting.
My professional journey in translation and interpreting has been marked by many achievements, including winning the Cultural Creativity Award in Muscat and PDO’s Translation Award, as well as translating three books from English into Arabic and doing more than 1000 hours of interpreting across international and regional evets.
My research interests include interpreter and translator pedagogy, machine translation, generative AI and translation and CAT tools. My current PhD thesis focuses on the education and training of interpreters in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
