Profile
I am a PGR with interest in transcribing and performing Baroque harpsichord music on Marimba. Prior to begining my research I completed my Masters in Performance here at the University of Leeds (MMus), before which I completed my BMus (Hons) in performance through Wolverhapton University.
Whilst studying I have developed my profile as a solo percussionist, performing concertos with orchestras and solo recitals throughout the UK. Online marketing, through both my website and social media platforms, have developed a strong plaform that I will continue to grow throughout my PhD.
Arts council funding has provided support for an extensive UK tour over 2021–22. These tours will offer workshops for schools during the daytime, introducing children to the world of percussion and working as a musician. Evenings concerts will also a free pre-concert talk about percussion and about my research.
Research interests
My research will focus on transcribing and performing Baroque harpsichord music on marimba. The marimba, comparitively to instruments such as the violin, is at a very early stage with both technique and repertoire. Research will look at repertoire from François Couperin, Domenico Scarlatti and J.S. Bach, each providing an insight to nationalistic performance practices. My research aims to develop new techniques for the marimba, whilst providing new music and lerning tools for other students.
