Voicing Hidden Histories: a two day conference on Participatory Arts and Activist Film-making.  

Part of the 31st Leeds International Film Festival

Two full days of seminars, screenings, expert panels and discussion exploring the role of film and digital media in participatory arts and activism activities at a local, national and global scale. Hear from a range of practitioners, academics and creative activists from Leeds and across the world.

Voicing Hidden Histories: Celebration Event & Project Launch 

Join the Centre for World Cinemas & Digital Cultures at the University of Leeds for an evening of film, talk, and performance in celebration of the power of film and creativity.  

The evening includes the world premiere of a selection of films made by communities in Brazil, South Africa and India as part of the recent project “Voicing Hidden Histories: Troubling the National Brand”.  

It also marks the launch of two new AHRC grants awarded to CWCDC members: 

“Changing the Story: Building Inclusive Civil Societies With, and For, Young People”
