Undergraduate study at Leeds

Our undergraduate degrees

All of our undergraduate courses are three years although you can decide to take a year in industry (also known as a work placement year) or a study abroad year which will extend your degree to four years.

You can choose to study one subject for your degree, such as BA Fine Art, or you may want to combine two subjects, such as BA Fine Art with History of Art. 

BA Fine Art 

Develop an ambitious and creative body of work produced in our excellent workshops and studios. You’ll focus on studio practice, study modules that help you reflect on the history and theory of art and culture and develop the skills needed for a range of art-related careers. You can choose to combine Fine Art with another subject (see below).

BA Fine Art with History of Art

You’ll study Fine Art in combination with History of Art and split your time between studio practice and studying modules that explore the history and theory of art. Combining Fine Art with another subject will allow you to work with and learn alongside students from other courses in the School.

BA History of Art 

Your History of Art degree will focus on the study of the history and theory of art. You’ll explore the ways in which art has been produced and received by different communities across time and in different places.

BA Fine Art with Contemporary Cultural Theory

You’ll combine your Fine Art studio practice with a critical understanding of contemporary culture and the media. Combining Fine Art with another subject will allow you to work with and learn alongside students from other courses in the School.

BA Cultural and Media Studies 

You'll develop your critical understanding of the history and theory of culture and the media and bring together disciplines, such as literature, history, sociology and philosophy with knowledge about film, television, music and popular culture.

BA History of Art with Cultural Studies

You’ll study art history and develop your critical understanding of the history and theory of culture, including film, television, music and visual culture. Studying History of Art with another subject will allow you to work with and learn alongside students from other courses in the School.
