Professor Malcolm Chase invited to be keynote speaker at Chartist Convention
Professor Malcolm Chase (History) is keynote speaker at the 10th anniversary Chartist Convention in Newport this weekend, part of anniversary celebrations marking the Chartist Newport Rising.
Several events are being held this week to commemorate the anniversary of the Chartist movement in Newport. On Saturday, the annual Chartist Convention will be held for the first time in John Frost School, Newport. The school (formerly Duffryn High School) now bears the name of the iconic Newport Chartist leader, and pupils will pay tribute to the Chartists through musical and other artistic contributions during the day.
For his keynote address Professor Malcolm Chase will be exploring Welsh Chartism in the aftermath of the Newport Rising of November 1839. For further information click here.
