LHRI Postdoctoral Fellowships Scheme for Leeds PhD students

Applications are invited for the latest round of Short-Term Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Leeds Humanities Research Institute.

University of Leeds PhD students in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures who have recently submitted their completed theses, or have recently passed their doctoral vivas, are invited to apply to become short-term Postdoctoral Fellows in the Leeds Humanities Research Institute (LHRI).

This scheme is intended to give the best of our PhD students the support needed to advance their research and their careers in the period between thesis completion and the taking up of a first post. Although these Fellowships are non-stipendiary, successful applicants will be given office space at the LHRI, full access to its computing, printing and other resources (including library access), and entrée into the collective life of a thriving, inter- and multi-disciplinary research community.

Fellowships last for 6 months. Under exceptional circumstances, Fellowships may be renewed or extended. Students can apply only after submitting their completed theses, and Fellowships may be taken up only after a thesis has passed examination (and any corrections approved). International students are encouraged to apply, but please note that students will be unable to take up an LHRI Fellowship until necessary assessments have been made of their postdoctoral immigration status. Up to 8 Fellows will be appointed in each round.

Fellows will be expected to take part in the Fellows' work-in-progress seminars and generally to participate in the life of the Institute. Office space will be provided for the duration of the fellowship, and successful candidates are strongly encouraged to spend as much time as possible at the LHRI.

The LHRI is pleased to be able to offer our new Short-Term Postdoctoral Fellowships the opportunity to apply for up to £200 in research expenses, in support of research activities to be undertaken in the Fellowship period. Further details can be found in the application form.

The deadline for the next round of applications is 17 May 2018, for Fellowships to begin from 18 June (to no later than 1 August 2018)

To apply, applicants should email a completed application form and a CV to Erin Pickles by the 17 May deadline.
