Profile
I am an assistant lecturer in the Mass Communication Department, University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Oman. I teach a range of courses such as writing for radio and TV, Video Production, Interpersonal Skills, and Visual communication. Currently, I am doing my PhD degree in the Omani Filmmaking practice.
My project entitled Framing the short films practice in Oman: narrative significance, representation and culture looks at the film practice in Oman, especially shorts filmmaking. It studies the narrative structure, film culture and representation. It also examines the role of authority, power, and censorship in the current status of Omani filmmaking practice. This project is sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education in Oman.
Research interests
My research interests include moving images, screenwriting, identity and culture in visual arts.
