Work in Progress ― workshop

The next Work In Progress workshop for the Centre for Critical Studies in Museums, Galleries and Heritage will be on 20 October 2017.

All PhD students and staff in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies working in the areas of museums, galleries and heritage are invited to share their work at this one day workshop.

This can be anything from a practice paper that you will present formally elsewhere, to emerging ideas or thoughts. The aim is for a ‘low stakes’ space to try things out. For any incoming PhD students, this is a great way to see what research is going on and perhaps share your initial ideas.

We invite you to book either a 30 minute or 15 minute slot.

30 min slot: this can be a practice paper, sharing a text you are working with or a mini-workshop.

15 min slot: this will be quicker, looser, more experimental ideas. There will be15 minutes of discussion time after each slot.

A 30 minute rounding up session will take place at the end of the workshop, along with discussion on the year ahead.

You are encouraged to design your slot well, to get others involved and to solicit engagement.

Please email Helen Graham or John Wright with your proposal, to include a title and which time slot you would like. Please also get in touch with Helen or John if you would like to discuss ideas. Joint working, combining slots and contributions which challenge or extend the premise of the structure are all very welcome!
