Bethan Hughes - Softbodies

Bethan Hughes (b. 1989, Wigan) is an artist and practice-based PhD candidate at the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, University of Leeds.

Bethan previously completed an MA in Media, Art and Design at the Bauhaus-University Weimar, Germany (2015) and a BA in Fine Art at The Glasgow School of Art (2011).

Softbodies is an installation of sculptural forms, digital prints and 3D rendered videos exploring notions of (dis)embodiment and tactility in the digital realm, the ways in which matter migrates across media and how our physical realities are restructured in the face of all-pervasive screen-space.

Organised by the Centre for Audio Visual Experimentation in the School’s new Project Space, The Fold interrogates both theory/practice and audio/visual relationships in contemporary art practice.
