FUAM Graduate Art Prize exhibition 2025

Celebrating its 13th year, the FUAM Graduate Art Prize exhibition showcases the artistic talent of students completing BA studies in Art and Design and Fine Art at the University of Leeds in 2025.

The 2025 finalists are: 

• Alice Boot (BA Fine Art) 
• Esme McLean (BA Fine Art) 
• Alexandra Rosenthal (BA Art & Design) 
• Hannah Slater (BA Art & Design) 

This year’s selected artists present diverse practices incorporating drawing, sculpture, ceramics, architectural models, and lighting designs.

Alice Boot takes inspiration from the coastal environments of their childhood, whilst Hannah Slater reimagines naturally stacked rock formations in her designs. Family photographs are the starting points for Esme McLean, whilst Alexandra Rosenthal explores the tension between architecture and human identity.

Each artist shares, however, a strong commitment to artistic innovation and technical excellence. 

The artworks featured in this exhibition have been selected from the artists’ final degree shows in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies and School of Design by an expert panel of judges. The 2025 judges are Rachel Brealey (Chief Operating Officer, University of Leeds), Helen Moore (Freelance Creative Producer) and Courtney Spencer (Independent Curator and Director of The Art Court).

The judges will return to choose the overall winner of the FUAM Graduate Art Prize 2025. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favourite artist for the People’s Choice Award, either online or at the Gallery. Both prize-winners will be announced at a public event on Tuesday 14 October.

Launch event

The exhibition launches at an evening opening event on Thursday 7 August, 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Free event, all welcome.
