A celebration to mark the official opening of the new building for the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies takes place on Wednesday 8 February 2017.
We invite all our former graduates to visit the new School and to re-experience the campus before the formal launch of the School and evening events begin at 5pm.
The afternoon events from 2pm to 5pm will include tours of our new building, with a chance to see our new studio spaces, fully equipped workshops, student common room and our multi-purpose gallery space for development of curatorial practice and visiting exhibitions.
Tours will also take alumni on a trip down memory lane across the university, to see old haunts, new developments and some of our galleries and libraries on campus.
Refreshments will be on offer in the student common room, with a chance to meet current students and staff.
There will also be an exhibition by alumna Elizabeth Price, former Turner Prize winning artist, in our new Project Space.
The building will be officially opened at 5pm by guest alumna Ingrid Roscoe (Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire) and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds, Sir Alan Langlands.
The event then moves on to the Great Hall for an ‘In Conversation’ event with alumnus Peter Morgan (Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe winning screenwriter & playwright) and Griselda Pollock (Professor of the Social & Critical Histories of Art). The evening finishes with a reception back in the School and a private view for our exhibition. See here for more information.
All our alumni are welcome to join us for the afternoon and evening activities. To book, or for more information, please email Fiona Blair at finalumni@leeds.ac.uk.
