200 years of Emily Brontë

Marking the 200th anniversary of Emily Brontë’s birth, Professor Sally Shuttleworth will discuss the brief life and work of the writer who gave us Wuthering Heights, her place in the literary canon, and the enduring legacy of the Brontë sisters.

Sally Shuttleworth is Professor of English Literature at the University of Oxford and Professorial Fellow, St Anne's College, Oxford, specialising in Victorian literature, having previously lectured at the University of Leeds. She is also a Fellow of the British Academy.

The public lecture is hosted by the Cultural Institute and Leeds Arts and Humanities Research Institute, in partnership with the British Academy and Ilkley Literature Festival. The event is free and all are welcome.
