- Thesis title: Regeneration of Polyester Fibres from Used Garments via a New Chemical Recycling Technology
- Supervisor: Professor Ningtao Mao, Professor Bao Nguyen
Profile
LITAC funded provisional PhD candidate within the School of Design, working closely with the School of Chemistry. Focusing in the area of polyester recycling.
I completed my undergraduate degree, in Chemistry, at the University of Lincoln, where I graduated with First Class Honours. My degree covered a range of organic, inorganic and physical chemistry, as well as industry-led projects, practical skills, and specialist modules in green, and biological chemistry. Throughout my final year, I researched the use of dimethyl carbonate, a green solvent, and process optimisation using the 12 principles of green chemistry for Michael addition reactions. Prior to starting this PhD project, I worked at GE Aerospace in Environmental Health and Safety, developing awareness of the environmental challenges posed within a large business.
I began this PhD project in February 2025 with Professor Ningato Mao and Professor Bao Nguyen.
