#DoYouMINDTHEGAP
Second year Graphic and Communication Design student, Pippa Allen, has taken home a Wood Pencil from the D&AD New Blood Competition, for her campaign to raise awareness of the gender pay gap.
The aim of her campaign #DoYouMINDTHEGAP was to develop an integrated solution to raise awareness of the gender pay gap and make a difference. The campaign cleverly used type to demonstrate that on average women are paid 20% less than male than their male counterparts.

Pippa explains:
“I wanted to create a type which illustrated just how damaging the gender pay gap is. Five letters of the alphabet equates to 20%, so by removing the vowels from words, I created a set of posters which symbolised this damage.”

Pippa’s campaign hoped to make a difference by visualising the issue at underground stations and with the help of well-known brands, to not only evoke a reaction but also provoke action.
