School of Design Launches the Professional Academy for Creative Enterprise (PACE)

The School of Design at the University of Leeds has launched the Professional Academy for Creative Enterprise (PACE)

A pioneering organisation aimed at strengthening the relationship between industry and academia. PACE will deliver innovative professional education, collaborative, expert testing and consultancy services, as well as production and design services, all tailored to organisations and professionals worldwide.

The School of Design has a long history of strong ties to industry, dating back to 1874 when the Yorkshire textile industry recognised the need for technical training and education for cloth workers. PACE builds upon this legacy, making the School of Design’s expertise accessible to a wider audience and empowering professionals with the knowledge and skills to thrive. PACE Trailer

Professor Maria Lonsdale, Director of PACE “PACE emerges at a time of great need, but also an opportunity to bring research and practice together to enhance industry response to demands and challenges. For such connections to succeed and have real applicability in the workplace and beyond, they need to be done in an innovative, smart, and engaging way. PACE seeks to equip professionals with the concrete knowledge and tools they need to excel and make a tangible contribution to industry and society on a global scale. This is the inspiration behind PACE and the outcome it aims to deliver. PACE is built on 150 years of heritage, top-level research, education, practice, and solid industry collaborations. PACE's vision is to share more widely what we have crafted so well for 150 years and make it more accessible worldwide."

At the heart of PACE’s mission are values that resonate with contemporary needs: innovation, collaboration, integrity, and sustainability. By integrating the latest advancements in design and technology, PACE cultivates a culture of innovation, fostering collaboration with industry leaders and professionals worldwide.
