Dr Claudio Calosi will speak on the topic 'Relational Quantum Indeterminacy'

Dr Claudio Calosi is a Philosopher of Physics and Assistant Professor at the University of Geneva.

AbstractThe paper presents the first thorough investigation of quantum metaphysical indeterminacy (MI) in the context of the Relational Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics (RQM). We contend that the interaction between MI and RQM is mutually beneficial. On the one hand, MI provides a metaphysical framework for RQM that has been neglected in the literature, and that promises to undermine some objections that are often raised against RQM. On the other hand, RQM might serve as an example of fundamental quantum MI.

The WIP seminar of the Centre for History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Leeds runs weekly during term time, and provides an opportunity for faculty and graduate students to refine their projects with a collaborative audience.

Seminars are free and open to all.
