This week, the School of History's Professor William Gould has been cited in a Guardian article about a the campaign to save London's India Club from demolition.
Westminster city council rejected the planning application to destroy the India Club due to the building's culturally historic significance.
William Gould, professor of Indian history, said the club played an important role in the 1960s and the first arrivals of immigrants from south Asia to help rebuild postwar Britain.
“There’s some evidence that this was a place that people came to when they first arrived,” he told the Observer in May. “It is related to some of the themes of Windrush.”
