Call for papers: Food and Health in Early Modern Europe
SSHM Postgraduate Conference, “Health Histories: The Next Generation”, will take place on 12-13th October 2017 in Shanghai, China.
We are looking for a chair and a third speaker to join Eleanor Barnett (University of Cambridge), and Giovanni Pozzetti (University of Leeds) for a panel presenting on the links between food and health in early modern Europe. Possible topics are, but not limited to:
- sources and approaches in food and medical history;
- transnational methods in the history of food and medicine;
- religion, medicine and the body;
- food, health and issues of identity;
- food and disease;
- food and religious dissents;
All postgraduate delegates must register (or already be registered) as members of the Society for the Social History of Medicine. For postgraduate students not currently funded through an existing fellowship or grant, funding is available to cover the costs associated with visas, travel, and accommodation in Shanghai (for more information please click here).
