‘The Fold’ opens a series of talks and exhibitions in Project Space

The school has announced a new public programme that interrogates both theory/practice and audio/visual relationships in contemporary art practice.

Practice-based PhDs are often denigrated as hinging too much on conceptual thought and writing, yet the University of Leeds has a long history of productive and interdisciplinary research in this area.

Unveiling our new building and celebrating 20 years of the Contemporary Artists’ Book Fair, The Fold presents five artists connected to the Fine Art PhD – past and present – each exploring different materialisations of thought as well as the formal qualities of ‘display’ itself.

Organised by Sam Belinfante from the Centre for Audio Visual Experimentation (CAVE), The Fold will open with an extraordinary video installation from Turner Prize winning artist, and Leeds alumna, Elizabeth Price in our new Project Space. The Tent opens on 7 February and forms part of a series of events to celebrate the new building for the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies. See here for more information
