Chilean Mural Project Officer
Chilean Mural Project Officer
Leeds University Union (LUU) invites applications for a new part-time temporary role which will involve working closely with LUU, with students from the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, and with members of the Chilean community in Yorkshire.
Leeds University Union recently uncovered a unique part of its heritage during refurbishment works; a mural painted in the early 1970s by political refugees who had fled the repressive regime of General Pinochet. The role of Chilean Mural Project Officer has been funded via the Heritage Lottery Fund in order to oversee the restoration of the mural, and to develop interpretation and events connected to it. The post-holder will be working closely with LUU, with students from the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, and with members of the Chilean community in Yorkshire.
Ideally you will have had previous experience in freelance arts, culture or community projects, and have managed complex time-limited projects on a restricted budget, dealing with a team of volunteers, contracted expertise, and the public. You will also have experience in delivering positive outcomes for exhibition, community engagement and project evaluation.
