Call for expressions of interest: Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships at University of Leeds
The School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science (PRHS) at the University of Leeds encourages expressions of interest from researchers working in the School’s disciplines in having a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship hosted by the School. PRHS is a vibrant and exciting intellectual community comprising roughly 60 permanent academic staff, 60 graduate students, and numerous postdoctoral and visiting researchers. PRHS has a strong track record with this scheme, hosting 5 successful applications in the last five years.
Duration and funds: Fellowships may last between 12-24 months, and provide an allowance to cover your living, travel and family costs.
Eligibility: Applicants must have a PhD by the call deadline (13 September 2023). Applicants who have defended their doctoral thesis but have not been formally awarded the degree by this date are eligible. Applicants must have no more than 8 years of experience in research (not including career breaks or related experience outside research). Fellows need not be EU citizens. To be eligible to apply to hold one of these fellowships at Leeds you also should not have lived or worked in UK for more than 12 months during the three years up to the closing date of the call. For your project to be hosted by PRHS, your research must be in philosophy, history and philosophy of science, or theology and religious studies. Note that UK institutions are eligible to support applications to this scheme, and that the UKRI Guarantee Fund will underwrite successful applications (see here for further details).
Deadline: Expressions of interest in having a Marie Curie IF hosted at Leeds should be submitted by emailing isobel.lister@leeds.ac.uk by 12 noon (UK time) on Thursday 1 June 2022 with (1) a statement of eligibility, (2) a detailed CV, and (3) a proposal of no more than 2 pages outlining the following:
- Introduction, state-of-the-art/research context, specific research objectives, and an overview of the proposed research project.
- Research methodology and approach: highlight the type of research/innovation activities proposed.
- Originality and innovative aspects of the research programme: explain the contribution that the action (i.e. the research and/or innovation activities) is expected to make to advancements within your field. Describe any novel concepts, approaches, or methods that will be implemented.
- Interdisciplinary aspects (if relevant).

To prepare their full applications for submission by 13 September 2023, applicants with successful expressions of interest will receive significant guidance during July-August 2023 using our successful model for applications and focused support for grant application development.
