- Date: Tuesday 21 June 2022, 16:00 – 17:00
- Location: Online

In this session, Professor Chris Forde and Andrea Denny will share their experiences co-ordinating and managing the Q-Step programme at the University of Leeds.
Q-Step is a national initiative funded by Nuffield Foundation between 2014–2021, which looked to develop quantitative skills amongst undergraduate social scientists. University of Leeds was one of 15 Universities that was funded through Q-Step. At Leeds, Q-Step has involved module and programme development across 4 Faculties (LUBS, ESSL, AHC and Environment), including the development of 'with quantitative methods' variants on 12 degree programmes, and over 20 new or redeveloped modules.
The Q-Step summer placement programme has offered over 200 paid placements for level 2 students to develop their quantitative skills. Alongside this, a range of other activities have also been developed to improve students' quantitative skills. In this session, Professor Chris Forde and Andrea Denny will offer insights and experiences from Q-Step at Leeds and will look at the opportunities and challenges of developing quantitative skills in and beyond the curriculum at undergraduate level.
Please note that this event will be held online via Zoom.
