Fighting shame: film, politics and feeling

This event begins with a screening of the short documentary film, Fighting Shame, followed by a Q&A with producer/director Sally Ogden and four of the women featured in the film.

Fighting Shame follows women in Leeds who have launched community initiatives to combat the stigma that surrounds poverty. They tell their stories through eight everyday objects that demonstrate daily struggles and want their voices to be heard by the UK’s policymakers.

On the Q&A panel are four of the women from the documentary –  Amina Weston Junior, Amina Weston Senior, Christine Issacs and Sarah Sweeney – and the producer/director, Sally Ogden. The Q&A will be facilitated by Dr Beth Johnson.

This event is part of the 2018-19 Sadler seminar series The Performance of Political Feeling.
