Profile

I hold a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from Cranfield University, UK where I worked on manufacturing natural polymer based composites using various manufacturing processes for varied applications. I have completed M.Tech in Chemical Technology with specialisation in Biochemical Engineering from Harcourt Butler Technical University, India and B.Tech in Biotechnology from Integral University, India.

Research interests

  • Currently funded by FFN+, NERC as part of UKRI to study microfibre emissions from UK textile industries. Working in collaboration with FFN+ and other sub-networks.
  • Obtained 50k £ funding by PCT to study the impact of microfibres released from various textile manufacturing processes. The project is in collaboration with University of Exeter, Northumbria University, The Microfibre Consortium, and textile manfuactueres in UK and overseas.
  • Worked in collaboration with SAGES, and Osmose Studio (2023), London, to develop method to coat natural dyes onto mycelium leather. This achievement stands as the first of its kind (2023), and featured in Dezeen magazine.
  • Worked on EPSRC funded project in collaboration with University of York, UK towards manufacturing functional fibres from sustainably sourced European seaweeds (2023). The project also worked on modulating the properties of seaweed based fibres using natural cross-linkers.
