Profile
With my PhD in Mnaufacturing Engieering from Cranfield University, UK, I merge a passion for biopolymers with a drive to address tangible challenges. With a solid foundation in functional biopolymer manufacturing, encompassing fibre spinning, micro-encapsulation, and coating with natural dyes, I specialize in their application across diverse fields such as sustainable textiles, medical solutions, hydrogels, and as eco-friendly alternatives to traditional thermoplastics. Collaborative by nature, I actively seek industry partnerships to amplify the impact of my expertise, aiming to foster innovative solutions and advancements in manufacturing. At University of Leeds, my focus is studying the impacts of microfibre emissions from textile indsutries within UK and globally. This would allow policy makers develop legislation to prevent the unintended microfibre release in the environment,, and develop sustainable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Researcher
Research interests
- Currently funded by FFN+, NERC as part of UKRI to study microfibre emissions from UK textile industries. Working in collaboration with FFN+ and other sub-networks.
- Developed a groundbreaking novel sustainable method for dyeing natural dyes onto mycelium leather in collaboration with SAGES, and Osmose Studio (2023), London,. This achievement stands as the first of its kind (2023), and featured in Dezeen magazine.
- Worked on EPSRC funded project in collaboration with University of York, UK towards manufacturing functional fibres from sustainably sourced European seaweeds (2023). The project also worked on modulating the properties of seaweed based fibres using natural cross-linkers.
