The University offers a range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate funding opportunities to help support you during your time studying with us.

Across our Faculty, we also have a number of generous awards and scholarships, which you’ll find below.

Before you apply for any funding, you'll need to have applied to your chosen course. You can apply for more than one funding opportunity, but may have to choose which ones to accept if your applications are successful.

Biomedical and Healthcare Ethics (Online) Scholarships Three 10% fee waiver scholarships available to students on MA or PGDip Biomedical and Healthcare Ethics (online)
Head of School Excellence Scholarships Three scholarships are available to UK and international students. They will cover the full UK fee or 50% of international fee, actual amount will vary according to programme.
Herbert Thompson Scholarship One scholarship is available for a UK or international applicant
Julian Rushton Scholarship One scholarship is available for a UK or international applicant
Leeds Alumni Bursary Graduates of the University of Leeds are entitled to a 10% bursary on tuition fees.
Mangoletsi-Potts Scholarship One scholarship is available to a home or international applicant.
Sasakawa postgraduate studentships in Japanese studies Available to students proposing to pursue either MA Film Studies with a focus on Japanese cinema, MA by Research in Japanese Studies or a PhD in Japanese studies, starting October 2024. PhD students in their first and second year of study are also eligible to enrol.

Head of School Excellence Scholarship The School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science offers one full fee scholarship for a UK student based on academic excellence
Head of School Excellence Scholarships The School of Media and Communication offers three full fee scholarships for UK Masters applicants with an excellent academic record.
Head of School Masters Scholarship The School of Languages, Cultures and Societies is offering five scholarships of £2500 that will provide a contribution towards academic fees.
Head of School Scholarship for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students One full fee waiver for a UK applicant who is from a Black, Asian or another ethnic minority background.
Leeds Church Institute Scholarships for Theology and Religious Studies One £5,000 scholarship provided by the Leeds Church Institute
Leeds Masters Scholarships Leeds Masters Scholarships aim to encourage UK fee-paying students from under-represented groups to study a postgraduate qualification.

Title Summary
Brontë International Scholarship This 10% partial fee waiver supports scholars of literature and creative writing, during their Masters level studies in the School of English.
Head of School Masters Scholarship (India) This competitive scholarship is awarded to a particularly deserving candidate from India in the form of a full tuition fee waiver.
Katrina Honeyman Scholarship The School of History offers up to four Katrina Honeyman Scholarships for outstanding international students.
School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies International Excellence Scholarship This competitive scholarship is awarded to a particularly deserving candidate in the form of a 25% deduction of the full tuition fee.
School of History International Excellence Scholarship This competitive scholarship is awarded to a particularly deserving candidate in the form of a 50% deduction of the full tuition fee.
School of Languages, Cultures and Societies International Excellence Scholarship These competitive scholarships are awarded to particularly deserving candidates in the form of a 10% deduction of the full tuition fee.
School of Media and Communication International Excellence Scholarship These competitive scholarships are awarded to particularly deserving candidates in the form of a 50% deduction of the full tuition fee.
