The University offers a range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate funding opportunities to help support you during your time studying with us.

Across our Faculty, we also have a number of generous awards and scholarships, which you’ll find below.

Before you apply for any funding, you'll need to have applied to your chosen course. You can apply for more than one funding opportunity, but may have to choose which ones to accept if your applications are successful.

Head of School Masters Scholarships This scholarship is intended to be a stepping-stone to pursue a future PhD to undertake an academic career path in the creative industries.

Leeds Church Institute Scholarships for Theology and Religious Studies Leeds Church Institute helps local people to study at post graduate level in Leeds. The Leeds Church Institute Scholarships support the development of theologians who will bridge between the academy and faith communities in Leeds. The vision is for future theologians who will inspire others in reflection and action to enliven mission and city engagement.
Leeds Translation Studies Masters scholarships These scholarships are open to UK/EU and international applicants holding an offer of study for a place on any of the eligible translation/interpreting Masters courses (full-time/part-time) commencing September 2023.
Mangoletsi-Potts Scholarship One scholarship is available to home/EU and international rated applicants who will start in the 2023/2024 academic year.
School of Performance and Cultural Industries Excellence Scholarship Three full fee scholarships are available for UK and international rated applicants. They will cover Full UK fee or 50% of International fee, actual amount will vary according to programme.

Title Summary
Biomedical and Healthcare Ethics Scholarships These scholarships are open to UK students applying to either MA or PGDip Biomedical and Healthcare Ethics campus-based programmes.
Head of School Excellence Scholarship One full fee scholarship is available for a UK student who will start in the 2022/2023 academic year.
Head of School Excellence Scholarship The awards are Masters scholarships as a full fee waiver and matching maintenance grant
Head of School Excellence Scholarships The School of Media and Communication offers scholarships for Masters applicants who we consider to have an excellent academic record.
Leeds Scholarships If your household income is less than £42,875 a year, you may be eligible to apply for a means-tested undergraduate scholarship which offers funding and support.

International only

Title Summary
Brontë International Scholarship This scholarship supports scholars of literature and creative writing, during their Masters level studies in the School of English. The Brontë International Scholarship celebrates Yorkshire’s rich literary heritage and the University’s association with the Brontës, including the recent acquisition of several rare handwritten manuscripts and printed books by the family.

Head of School Excellence Scholarship International Three scholarships are available for international students who will start in the 2022/2023 academic year.
Katrina Honeyman Scholarship The School of History offers the Katrina Honeyman Scholarships for international students. Katrina Honeyman (1950-2011) was a Professor of Social and Economic History in the School of History until her retirement. The scholarships are named after her in recognition of her encouragement and support for students throughout her career.
MA Scholarship (India) British Council GREAT Scholarship The School of Media and Communication offers scholarships for Master’s applicants who we consider to have an excellent academic record. These competitive scholarships are awarded to particularly deserving candidates in the form of a full tuition fee waiver.
Sasakawa postgraduate studentships in Japanese studies As part of the five-year programme designed to support the study of Japan in the UK at postgraduate level, which the Nippon Foundation and the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation re-launched in 2018, East Asian Studies at the University of Leeds invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who wish to pursue a taught MA programme in Film Studies with a focus on Japanese cinema, a MA by research (MAR) in Japanese Studies or a PhD in Japanese Studies starting October 2023. For the taught MA programme in Film Studies, the successful candidate will need to take the module on Transnational East Asian Cinemas and their MA dissertation needs to be focused on Japanese film.
School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies International Excellence Scholarship Our School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies International Excellence Scholarships support international students to fulfil their academic potential and contribute to the social and cultural diversity of our student community. These competitive scholarships are awarded to particularly deserving candidates in the form of 25% fee deductions.
School of History International Excellence Scholarship Our School of History International Excellence Scholarships support international students to fulfil their academic potential and contribute to the social and cultural diversity of our student community. These competitive scholarships are awarded to particularly deserving candidates in the form of 50% fee deductions
School of Languages, Cultures and Societies International Excellence Scholarship Our School of Languages, Cultures and Societies International Excellence Scholarships support international students to fulfil their academic potential and contribute to the social and cultural diversity of our student community. These competitive scholarships are awarded to particularly deserving candidates in the form of 10% fee deductions.
School of Media and Communication International Excellence Scholarship Our School of Media and Communication International Excellence Scholarships support international students to fulfil their academic potential and contribute to the social and cultural diversity of our student community. These competitive scholarships are awarded to particularly deserving candidates in the form of 50% fee deductions.
School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science International Excellence Scholarship Our School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science International Excellence Scholarships support international students to fulfil their academic potential and contribute to the social and cultural diversity of our student community. These competitive scholarships are awarded to particularly deserving candidates in the form of 50% fee deductions.
